Join us for an interactive event that explores the historic intellectual clash between Georges-Louis Leclerc (Comte de Buffon) and Thomas Jefferson over theories of nature, environment, and American identity. Guests will have a chance to view an original copy of Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia and engage in hands-on activities.

Holiday Candlelight Tours

Dec. 5–19, 2025 @ 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Celebrate the advent of the Christmas season in Jeffersonian style at Poplar Forest. Explore the president's hideaway by candlelight, learn how early Americans decorated, and hear stories from Jefferson’s personal letters and diaries. Tours conclude with refreshments in the Museum Shop. Admission is $30 per person; reservations required.
